The VII Congress of Community Pharmacies is just around the corner. An impressive array of visitors, communications, workshops, stands ... support its mission to serve the profession since its first edition in Tarragona in 2004. However, the question to ask is not how many conferences a profession might have, but whether congresses are a useful tool for said profession. SEFAC, as the only specific scientific and professional association of community pharmacies, hopes that its congresses meet the three basic objectives a scientific conference should have:
a) To train professionals through updated content, share discoveries, stimulate research and, in sum, provide the best cognitive and material tools for them to carry out their work.
b) To mobilize, via constructive self-criticism and introduce the changes needed to allow the profession to continue optimally serving society without falling into useless defeatism or sterile complacency.
c) Lastly, to serve as interlocutor with society, showing through dialogue with other scientific associations, patient associations, the government, media... the progress, challenges, debates and commitments facing the profession.
