Abstract :

The work of the community pharmacist in patients with high blood pressure (HBP) does not usually have an impact on scientific publications for various reasons, including the fact that community pharmacists rarely record their work. Nevertheless, for the first time the latest ESC Guidelines highlight the role that community pharmacists along with nursing professionals can have in this field.

In the current context, and now that the pandemic appears to be remitting, community pharmacists must take a step forward in one of the most patient-valued healthcare activities – taking blood pressure (BP) readings, restarting and promoting blood pressure monitoring, following the protocols and incorporating Self-Measured Blood Pressure Monitoring (SMBP) or ABPM (Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring) into our portfolio of services to the extent possible. The health of the population and the perception of our role will be better for it.
