Abstract :

Ten years ago, several Spanish regions started moving Hospital-prescribed drugs (DH) from community pharmacies (CP) to hospital pharmacies (HP). Even though the regions lacked (and still lack) the powers to make this change, in reality, almost all innovative drugs marketed in Spain are leaving community pharmacies behind in favor of hospital pharmacies. And this trend is not likely to change due to the indescribable hospital-prescribed drugs without a tear-out label (DIHSC), a catch-all term whose key criterion is to include certain high-priced drugs. We, community pharmaceuticals, have gone from watching it happen to complaining to naively thinking that local accessibility is enough of an argument to get these drugs back.
